The epic new project I’ve been working on with my wife (and our sweet-faced 1 year old daughter) is the rehabilitation of a 1930’s cape cod style house in our hometown in Prince Georges County, Md. Count on a bevy of cool projects, creative reuse and assorted hi-jinx. We are documenting our progress at fortythirdplace.com and on Instagram.
It’s always a pleasure to get to work with an old friend. Brenton Engel, founder of Letherbee Distilleries in Chicago, played with me for many years in a kick-ass rock and roll band. We were on the road for what felt like 40 years…
I am very happy to see his product doing so well. He is a really laid back but hardworking dude. Only 5 years ago was he cooking up moonshine in the basement of the same house we lived in and played music in, and now he’s blowing up–regionally and beyond. I hope we always have an excuse to collaborate. Last Christmas for their gift box I came up with a simple tool box with belt handle design and we did a run of 50 with RX Made. This season we did 200, and added the laser engraved logo. Sharp.
My co-worker/bud Rachal Duggan also happens to be an amazing artist! Check out her Halloween animation!

This headboard/wall art was made with extra and cast off wedges from the Strand Design clock we worked on with RX Made.
The Andersonville Development Corporation commissioned RX Made to design and build a small public park to occupy two parking spaces in one of Chicago’s most lively neighborhoods. We built the entire structure in the RX warehouse, took it apart, and reassembled it at the intersection of Clark and Olive. 100% reclaimed materials. Special thanks to the IIA interns, Brian Bonanno, Latent Design, and CDOT.
The best thing I ever made (with some help from my wife of course)
The RX Made team made a wall of doors for the Rebuilding Exchange front entrance. Definitely not an original idea, but a great use for cast-off doors we always seem to have an abundance of. A collaboration between Meegan, Dwayne, Casey, Ilithya, and me.
The RX Made Bottle Openers designed by Strand are finally on sale at Whole Foods in Chicago. Go buy one at the 1550 N. Kingsbury Street location, also known as the 3rd largest WF in the world! We are honored that they are carrying our product. They even let us design a display.

A short documentary about the craft and philosophy of wooden boat carpentry.
I was recently interviewed for an article in CityMag, a Northwestern University publication.
Myself and a few other “Chicago-area artists reflect on how re-salvaged materials mirror the human condition.”
